Expert insights into MCCB selection and application
MCCB (Molded Case Circuit Breaker) is used for higher current ratings (up to 2500A) and has adjustable trip settings, whereas MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker) is typically used for domestic or low-current applications (up to 125A) with fixed trip characteristics.
The Icu (Ultimate Short-Circuit Breaking Capacity) should be higher than the calculated maximum short-circuit current at the point of installation. For critical infrastructure, the Ics (Service Breaking Capacity) should ideally be 100% of Icu.
