Send Inquiry NowTakamaka, situated on the southern tip of Mahé in the Seychelles, represents a unique convergence of pristine ecological tourism and developing infrastructure. Securing reliable, uninterrupted electricity under the challenges of a tropical marine climate requires highly specialized electrical hardware. Transformers and switchgear deployed here are exposed to intense ambient salinity (corrosive C5-M marine rating classification), high relative humidity exceeding 85%, and sudden thermal shifts.
As the Seychelles moves toward integrating decentralized renewable energy systems—such as utility-scale solar PV arrays and hybrid energy storage systems—the local grid requires modern distribution transformers. High-efficiency dry-type and sealed oil-immersed transformers act as the core interfaces between renewable generation assets and the regional distribution network. They stabilize fluctuating solar feeds, provide harmonic containment, and step down medium voltages to safe, usable power with minimum load losses.
High salt concentration accelerates corrosion on standard metals. Custom zinc-rich epoxy primers are mandatory.
Consistent high temperatures require robust cooling systems (ONAN classification) to prevent internal core degradation.
Variable solar input requires precise voltage regulation and Low Voltage Ride-Through (LVRT) support from transformers.
The global energy sector is undergoing a profound paradigm shift, transitioning from centralized fossil fuel generation to highly fragmented, smart-managed electrical grids. This transition places unprecedented stress on distribution networks. Modern grids demand smart distribution transformers equipped with real-time temperature, gas-in-oil, and load monitoring technologies. These IoT-enabled units allow utility operators to prevent outages using predictive maintenance algorithms, significantly extending asset life cycles.
Mineral oils are increasingly replaced by biodegradable synthetic or natural esters. These fluids mitigate fire hazards, feature much higher flashpoints, and prevent environmental pollution in the event of spillage near marine reserves.
Using Cold-Rolled Grain-Oriented (CRGO) steel and amorphous alloy cores minimizes no-load losses (hysteresis and eddy currents). This ensures optimal performance even during periods of low grid activity.
Solid-state transformers (SSTs) are emerging as the ultimate solution for microgrids, offering direct management of DC solar inputs, battery energy storage, and AC load interfaces within a single unit.

Dry-type transformers are highly recommended for tropical islands like the Seychelles due to safety and ecological concerns. Since they do not use liquid cooling oils, there is zero risk of oil leakage contaminating sensitive marine eco-systems. Our dry-type units utilize Class H insulation (up to 180°C) with vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI) that locks out moisture, preventing salt-spray induced winding failures.
Our oil-immersed transformers feature hermetically sealed tanks. Prior to painting, all steel surfaces undergo sandblasting to ISO SA2.5 standards. We then apply multi-layered protective coatings featuring zinc-rich primers, intermediate micaceous iron oxide barriers, and polyurethane topcoats. All external bolts and hardware are constructed from stainless steel (Grade 316) to withstand coastal salinity.
For projects in high UV and marine zones, we configure PV combiner boxes using polycarbonate or fiberglass-reinforced polyester (FRP) housings with IP65/IP66 protection. Internally, we integrate DC breakers, high-capacity surge protective devices (1000V/1500V DC SPDs), and current sensors compatible with Modbus/RS485 networks for remote SCADA integration.
By implementing automated production schedulers and utilizing digital manufacturing twins, we reduce waste and optimize winding cycles. Our direct agreements with premier copper smelters and CRGO steel mills guarantee that production begins immediately upon contract sign-off, bypassing raw material shortages that delay other suppliers.
All power equipment complies with international IEC 60076 specifications for power transformers, IEC 62271 for high-voltage switchgear, and corresponding IEEE/ANSI equivalents. Comprehensive type test reports (temperature rise, lightning impulse, short-circuit withstand) are provided with shipping documentation.
